BetAlpha SMS Consent & Opt-In Flow

This page documents exactly how end users provide consent to receive SMS messages from the BetAlpha SMS Alerts program. It is published here publicly so that carrier and aggregator reviewers (e.g., TCR, Twilio) may verify our opt-in procedure.

Message recipient: The sole account owner/operator who has authenticated into the BetAlpha dashboard and configured their own mobile phone number in the Settings panel.

Nature of the service: BetAlpha is a single-operator internal alerting system. Only the authenticated account owner receives messages, and only to a phone number they themselves have configured. There is no third-party distribution, no marketing content, and no external subscriber list.

Opt-In Procedure — Step by Step

  1. User navigates to https://betalpha.io and authenticates with their account password.
  2. User opens the Settings panel within the dashboard.
  3. User scrolls to the Notifications → SMS Alerts section.
  4. User enters their mobile phone number in the designated field.
  5. User reads and checks the SMS consent checkbox (full text shown in the mockup below).
  6. User clicks Save. The system records the phone number, the consent timestamp, and the IP address of the consent event for audit purposes.
  7. No messages are sent until this explicit opt-in action is completed.

Opt-Out

Users may opt out at any time by either:

  1. Replying STOP to any SMS message received from BetAlpha (handled automatically by Twilio's default opt-out keywords).
  2. Clearing the phone number field in the in-app Settings panel and clicking Save.
